1. WHY IS IT CALLED ISO 9001:2015 and not just ISO 9001?

The year indicates the most recent update of the standard. ISO 9001:2015 is thus an ISO 9001 standard published in 2015, and it replaced the previous version, ISO 9001:2008. It is important to know the version of ISO 9001 in question, as revisions and updates are continuously made to meet new needs and technologies within quality management.

In 2015, the following was introduced among other things:

• High Level Structure (HLS) of all ISO standards, making it easier to integrate with other management system standards.
• Increased focus on risk thinking, where organisations must identify, assess and manage risks and opportunities in their quality management system.
• Greater support of the management system from the top management

3. Which companies can become ISO 9001:2015 certified?

The flexibility of the ISO 9001 standard makes it relevant for all types of companies and industries – from production and construction to service, consulting and IT. ISO 9001 is also called the mother of all standards, as you often start here.

4. Who typically works with certifications within a company?
