Work environment and environmental auditor at Bureau Veritas

"My name is Vivi Aarkrog, and I work as an occupational health and environmental auditor and consultant at Bureau Veritas. I work with certification and consultancy within the standards ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 45003.

I am a trained nurse and have a master’s degree in business psychology. This gives me a background where especially the psychological work environment has been a significant factor in my everyday life. I am therefore glad to work in a company where I get the opportunity to work with companies that focus on systematic and concrete work environment initiatives through occupational health and safety management.

In my work as an occupational health and safety auditor, I visit a wide range of companies and audit both managers and employees on how they work with occupational health and well-being. With my background as a nurse and a master’s degree in business psychology, the psychological work environment means a lot to me. The psychological work environment is an important aspect in all companies, and it includes more than just an annual job satisfaction survey.

At Bureau Veritas, I get the opportunity to work with what I am passionate about. I am part of a skilled team which has developed a tool for screening companies' systematic work with the psychological work environment based on the ISO 45003 guideline. My colleagues show me great confidence even though I am a young auditor, and I have just tested the screening tool in a large international company.

In addition to developing this screening tool, I am also a co-teacher at our ISO 45003 courses, where I get the opportunity to pass on knowledge but also share knowledge with committed course participants, who come from all types of companies.

The learning curve has been steep since I started at Bureau Veritas but it is exciting, and it gives me the opportunity to develop. This is also largely due to my colleagues – highly professional, skilled, and inclusive employees," says Vivi Aarkrog, auditor and consultant at Bureau Veritas Denmark.
